UNIT 7: OUR COUNTRY, OUR CONSTITUTION

SPECIAL SENTENCES:


  1. In democracy you can chose. With elections you decide members of the government every four years.
  2. Constitutions sets out instructions on how everyone can act. It organises and limits the power of the government and protects the basics rights and freedoms of people.

  3. Spain is a social and democratic state and the power belongs to the people. The state must provide: basic education, healthcare, assistance for people without work…

  4. Constitution explain the individual rights, freedoms (what you deserve) and duties (what you have to do).




  5. Power is divided in the state into executive branch, legislative branch and judicial branch.

  6. Executive branch decides the political and economic directions of the government. It is formed by the Prime Minister and ministers.

  7. Legislative branch makes and approve laws in the Parliament and is divided into Senate and Congress of Deputies.

  8. Judicial branch can interpret laws and decide punishments and are made up of judges and magistrates.

  1. The Constitution organized Spain into autonomous cities, provinces and municipalities.

  2. Municipalities are the smallest territories with a town council and a mayor. A group of municipalities are provinces that have a provincial council.
