UNIT 5: HUMAN BODY




NERVOUS SYSTEM


The nervous system transmits, interprets and responds to nerve impulses.

The nervous system is made up of neurons, whose parts are axon and dentrites, and they form nerves.



















MUSCLES AND BONES


The information goes to the principal effectors, the skeleton and the muscles, which generate movement.

The skeleton is a structure formed by bones and joints.

The muscles are attached to the skeleton by tendons and we need muscles to move.




DIGESTIVE SYSTEM




The digestive system obtains the nutrients that we need from food.



The digestive tract is made up of the mouth, pharynx, oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and anus.


RESPIRATORY SYSTEM


The respiratory system takes in oxygen (inhalation) and eliminates carbon dioxide (exhalation).

The respiratory tract is made up of the nasal cavity, the pharynx, the larynx, the trachea, the lungs and the bronchi.



CIRCULATORY SYSTEM


        . •  The circulatory system uses blood to transport substances such as nutrients and waste products, around our body.

         2.          The circulatory system is made up of the heart, blood and the blood vessels.

•The heart is divided into the right atrium, the right ventricle, the left atrium and the left ventricle.

         1.          The arteries carry blood from the heart to the organs.


         2.          The veins carry blood from the organs to the heart.







EXCRETORY SYSTEM


The excretory system eliminates waste from our body.

The excretory system is made up of the kidneys and the urinary tract (ureters, bladder and urethra).
